IMHO Farewell AKA Thanx For The Fish

You’ll notice this is a short one.  You’ll probably see the title before you see the show notes. Spoiler In My Humble Opinion is wrapping up.  The passion to continue the show just isn’t there for all of us. It’s been a fun run; but we decided not to put out a bad podcast by continuing to go through the motions.  We’ll get together to do one final show; but it’ll probably be hosted on another website www.bro2bropodcast.com more than likely. This isn’t a good bye just a TTFN.

Brother To Brother – Episode 21: Get Off My Lawn

Brother To Brother – Episode 21: Get Off My Lawn

On the 21st episode of the Brother to Brother podcast we discuss how good kids these days have it and we politely ask them to Get Off Our Lawn!!!But first Hiddanas aka Reggie and I get together to discuss some of the craziness going on in our life. We also have a lively debate on the merits and deficits of the new Star Wars movie The Last Jedi. Hiddanas is very critical while I Tempiwmf aka John disagree with his heavy handed criticism. Who is write and who is wrong…well that’s up to you all to decide. After a brief debate we get Into The News where we discuss the continued fallout from Menghazi. We touch on more celebrity revelations, we question why some politicians are staying in office, and we discuss the disturbing violence surrounding allegations against comedian TJ Miller a favorite of Tempiwmf. After that we quickly get into our nominations for Ass Hat & Hero of the Year nominees. Finally we get into the good stuff. We, as growing old men of 34 & 35  years old, politely ask the youth of today to get the F off our lawns. We do this by discussing the greatness of growing up as children of the 80’s and 90’s. We discuss the changes in music, film, and television that were positive (more diversity) and negative (same old stereotypical roles). We also discuss how lucky this generation doesn’t have to deal with the technology wars (blu ray or HD) or the need for skip protection on portable cd players.

Yet, we’re not so jaded by time that we can’t acknowledge the many struggles that kids these days don’t have to deal with. We acknowledge that some things have gotten better like animation (Star Wars Rebels), the ability to avoid libraries due to advancements in information, and of course the glory that is GPS.We look back as only the experience can to see our glorious past while acknowledging our potential future. Are we becoming cranky old men or are we just right about how good kids have it these days.

BROTHER TO BROTHER – EPISODE 20 – ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS

On the 20th episode of the Brother To Brother Podcast we discuss all things Christmas. Songs, movies, gifts, and disappointments we cover it all. Before we get Into The News we talk about some of the craziness going on in our own lives including a broken car window, a stolen camera, and all things Star Wars (no spoilers)Finally we get Into The News where we discuss more fall out from Menghazi including allegations against an NPR favorite, allegations against multiple NFL & Sports figures, and one allegation that ends in suicide. We also indulge in the most tasty of crow concerning the upset victory of Doug Jones over Roy Moore and the impact of the black vote on that special election. Lastly we get a bit of a chuckle out of the failure of a would be terrorist in NYC.After quickly nominating our latest nominees for Asshat & Hero Of The Year we get into our main topic Christmas. Guided by Reggie aka @Hiddanas  we take a tour of his favorite holiday Christmas. We examine both the religious & secular aspects of this holiday.  Reg speaks to us about the glory of giving back to others & his desire for the Christmas spirit to last year round.  John aka@Tempiwmf gets a little humbugish over the capitalistic nature of Christmas & the historic manipulation of the holiday but is pulled back into the spirit of things through cherished childhood memories. We also explore the stress of surviving as sons of a Catholic  convert during the holidays and going to four services in 24 hours.candles prayer GIF

We also debate our favorite music (secular & religious), our favorite movies & tv specials (animated & life action), and we discuss our favorite memories or for @Hiddanas  his least favorite.  We even have a brief discussion on those who over emphasize the Christmas nature of Die Hard and the medical issues that arise from Home Alone.merry christmas ya filthy animal GIF by 20th Century Fox Home EntertainmentThere is something for everyone so join @Tempiwmf & @Hiddanas on the latest episode of the Brother to Brother podcast.

BROTHER TO BROTHER – EPISODE 19 – THE ANTI-LEXICON

BROTHER TO BROTHER – EPISODE 19 – THE ANTI-LEXICON

On the 19th episode of the Brother To Brother Podcast we gather to discuss the Anti-Lexicon. While some dictionary folks are adding to our language we are removing words and phrases that no longer are acceptable or appropriate. Before we get into our main subject we discuss that greatness that was Hiddanas aka Reggie’s first live experience with the phenomenon that is Open Mike Eagle. He discuss the performance, the uniqueness of the crowd make up, and even surprises us by dropping some lyrics. Lastly we discuss our year end Spotify breakdown including the insane amount of hours that Tempiwmf aka John listened to and the artist who dominated our playlist of 2017. We also question why there isn’t a similar tracking device for podcast apps. Finally we get Into The News where we discuss the continued downfall of mostly male sexual abusers and we highlight some of the new members to join the Menghazi list. We also debate the potential of Alabama to elect a pedophile (spoiler alert they didn’t), we touch base to see what our Racist in Chief Donald Trump has gotten into lately, and we have a lively talk on the future of left leaning politics. Hiddanas believe the high road is important but Tempiwmf doesn’t quite agree. Who is right?Due to a week full of bad press we regretfully return with our least favorite segment Cop Watch and then briefly discuss our nominees for Ass Hat & Hero Of The War.Finally we get into our main topic which is the Anti-Lexicon. While showering before work Reg asked the question, “If we add words to our lexicon…why don’t we remove some.” With that in mind we tackle the words and phrases that should never be spoke (red light), could be problematic depending upon your audience (yellow light), and those which are good to go (green light). We give you the certified Brother to Brother podcast answers on such phrases as “in a coon’s age, call a spade a spade, porch monkeys, and spirit animals”. Did we get it right? Did we get it wrong? We leave that up to you all. With something for everyone we hope you all enjoy this very entertaining episode of the Brother to Brother podcast. On the 16th episode of the Brother to Brother podcast we discuss our personal American Experience. We dive into what it has meant to have an American youth and upbringing. Before we get into the main topic we discuss a few things going In The News. We examine the continued growth of sexual accusations and the consequences of these actions. We also briefly examine how allegations of sexual assault are perceived differently in the field of entertainment versus politics. We also give a brief update on the Texas church shooting and debate if white privilege was at play in the Rand Paul assault. But it’s not all bad news…we promise. We also get pretty nerdy while discussing the new WOW aka the World of Warcraft new expansion. Reggie goes full nerd alert while filling in some history of the WOW and John attempts to join in on the fun. We also cover the new Hearthstone expansion and the aspects of the game we love and loathe. Finally before getting into our main topic we briefly discuss and decide on nominations for the Ass Hat & Hero of the year. Finally we get into our main topic which is our American Experience. Having grown up as POC with two military officers as parents our experience is quite unique when compared to most Americans. We seek to discuss the aspects of our upbringing that helped to form the people we have developed into. We discuss how the military shielded us from many things other POC grew up with and also the culture shock that we dealt with after leaving the military for civilian life in the south. We hope you’ll be patient with us as we discuss, debate, and process the milestone experiences that crafted our unique American Experience. Before we finish the show we briefly return to one of our favorite segments, What Cha Talkin Bout Willis, where we discuss the strange transformation of Sammy Sosa. With something for everyone we hope you all enjoy this very personal and special episode of the Brother to Brother podcast.

Brother To Brother Episode 15 – Yeah That Would Be Cool But…

BROTHER TO BROTHER – EPISODE 15 – YEAH THAT WOULD BE COOL BUT….

On the 15th episode of the Brother to Brother podcast we look at things at at first thought seem awesome but don’t necessarily work out depending upon who you are…. Before we get into the main topic we discuss some stories in the news. This includes an update on the Bowe Bergdahl case. Did he receive jail time or did he walk free with no punishment? We also quickly discuss the Colorado shooting & why a bunch of people with guns isn’t the best answer to mass shootings. Lastly @Hiddanasreviews the movie Marshall about the early life of civil rights lawyer and future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. We also get some feedback on a previous rant about female clothing in gaming and comics. We also have a busy segment of Ass Hate & Hero of the Year. For the first time ever we have a real competitive race for the Ass Hate of the Year nomination. We debate the merits of a fierce fatal four way when four candidates storm into the arena in hopes of claiming the treasured nomination. The Hero of the year nomination is a lot less dramatic but no less worthy of the honor. Did we get it right? Did we get it wrong?Lastly we discuss the things which seem cool but in reality don’t work for everyone. One main example is the idea of time travel. Time travel is always cool in theory but it would be very difficult if you’re a person of color, a woman, or any other group that has been marginalized. We also discuss how differently federal standoffs would go if black men were doing them instead of white ones (Oregon Standoff Anyone). We finish off the episode with one of our favorite segments Whatcha Talking Bout Willis. We ask what the hell Papa Johns is talking about with their anger towards the NFL protesters. Don’t miss this epic rant on pizza, protest, and charity. There is something for everyone so join @Tempiwmf & @Hiddanas on the latest episode of the Brother to Brother podcast.
